Abstract
Among the mnjor cereal crops grown in this country pearl millet (bajro) has an important place and IS supposed to be quite rich in protein. Krishnaswamy) (1962) reported that the protein content of hajra grain varied from a to I2 per cent as studied by direrent workers. The results at thls centre also Indicated tha Pusa.rnoti, an improved variety of bojrn, possessed as hlgh as 15 per cent o proteln. Watts (1908) reported hnjra to be more nutritive than rice. Bojro contains luore Iht than jowor. Agricultural Chemist, Madras State (Anon. 1956b) has reported that the quality of bajro grain fertilized with cattle manure is superior to that of phosphatic fertiliser..............
