Abstract
The yield of the rainfed crop pf .sorghum ir very often significantly reduced due to inadequate and ill-distribbted rainfall and the frequent prevalence of long periods of drought. It ham been noticed that some of the varieties are able to withstand the vagaries of the season better than others. There differences are attributed to various causes; but sufficient attent on has not been paid to the root system in tbis regard. The results of preliminary studies made on the acsociation of different root charac:ers with drought rcsistrece are presented in this paper.......
