The agent responsible for the complete inhibition of the hypertrophy of the mammary glands of shows in the last few weeks of pregnancy and the resultant agalactica and heavy morality of piglets in southern Rhodesia has been established as the ergot fungus parasitizing the bulrus millet , pennisetumn typhoides..................
