Abstract

Local germplasm of bajra collected from arid region of Rajasthan has been grouped using metroglyph analysis. High tillering and seedling vigour were associated with high yield, The material from Barmer and Jaisalmer districts was early to medium in maturity. The former is productive while the latter is low yielding. Jodhpur material comprised early as well as late types in equal proportion with low yields. The significance of early growth and vigour under receding moisture conditions in arid zones has been discussed in relation to yield potential.
