Abstract
The genetic potential of pearl millet hybrids have not been fully realized and the hybrids are losing ground with the farmers inspite of their high productivity. The major factor responsible for this is the incidence of diseases, particularly downy mildew. Breeding for disease resistance is, therefore, one of the most important objectives in the improvement of pearl millet. The success of any breeding programme depends, however, on understanding the genetic architecture underlying the character under consideration ...................................
