Abstract

Studies on the chemical control of Sorghum earhead midge Cantarinia sorghicola Coq. with 11 insecticides proved that endosulfan 2 per cent dust, and 0.07 per cent spray, carbaryl 10 per cent + BHC 10 per cent (1: 2) dust, malathion 5 per cent dust, and carbaryl 0.3 per cent spray showed significantly less damage than control. The yield of jowar grains was also significantly more in the plots treated with endosulfan 2 per cent dust. In addition to this treatment, carbaryl 0.3 per cent spray, endosulfan 0.7 per cent, carbaryl 10 per cent + BHC 10 per cent (1: 2) dust showed less infestation and gave double drain yielde than those of untreated plots
