Abstract
Twenty-five lines of Pennisetum typhoides [Pennisetum glaucum] representing the world germ plasm were crossed with two male-sterile lines, Tf23A from Georgia, USA, and the local L101A There was wide variation in yield and morphological characters of their respective progenies. General and specific combining ability for yield seemed to be related to that for the yield components of the ♂ parents. The variance component due to specific combining ability was high for all characters except leaf number and size. L101A was the better combiner and the ♂ parents RSK, S350-361-128/1 and IP926 had the highest general combining ability
