Abstract

In field-plot tests in Bangalore in the Indian State of Karnataka in 1970-71 on the effect of sowing date of sorghum on the incidence of Contarinia sorghicola (Coq.) and its parasites, the incidence of the pest was lower on crops sown in October-February than on those sown in April-August. The incidence of parasites (Eupelmus popa Gir. and 4 species of the genus Tetrastichus) generally increased as the sowing date from December onwards became later, reaching a peak on June-sown crops, and declined thereafter, being lowest on crops sown in October-December
