Abstract

The Eleusine coracana [Eleusine indica] varieties Hamsa, Purna, Annapurna, H1 and H22 were assessed for their tolerance of salinity during germination. Solutions of calcium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, potassium chloride and potassium sulfate were prepared separately to give osmotic concentrations of 1-8 atm. The varieties Annapurna and H1 were most tolerant of saline conditions and Hamsa was the least tolerant.
