Abstract

Traditionally, pellagra had been associated with corn consumption and niacin deficiency. The patients reported from Hyderabad. India, were however found to subsist on diets based predorninantly on sorghum vulgare, supplemented with rice (Gopalan and Srikantia, 1960). Sorphum is neither deficient in niacin, nor in its precursor amino acid, tryptophan
