Abstract

The present investigations were conducted on eighteen promising germ plasm lines of pearl millet, their crosses involving three male sterile lines and their F2 progenies. Heritability in broad sense was high for almost all. the characters but heterosis in F1 lowered the parent offspring correlations and biased the true heritability estimates. Significant parent offspring correlations and high estimates for true heritability were observed for all the characters in Fa. Leaf number and leaf size were found to be most heritable. It was, therefore, suggested that leaf number and leaf size should be given more consideration in making choice of superior green fodder types.
