Abstract
In pearl millet, Pennisetum typhoides(Burm) S. & H, some plant parts have been found to be hairy. This crop being generally grown in arid or semi-arid regions, hairiness of plant parts may be helpful in reducing the transpiration rate.Hairiness can also be usefully employed in various plant breeding projects as a genetic marker. Athwal, Gill and Gill (1966) isolated and developed genetic stocks for hairiness on nodes and leaves and hairiness limited to only nodes or leaves besides a stock having complete absence of hairiness on different plant parts. In this paper, inheritance of hairy node arid hairy leaf are presented.
