Abstract

The suitability of various artificial diets for mass-rearing the maize and sorghum pest Chilo partellus (Swinh.) was assessed on the basis of laboratory studies in India and published work. A diet based on either a mixture of green gram (Vigna radiata) and dew gram (V. aconitifolia) grain powder or on a mixture of dew gram and cowpea (V. unguiculata) grain powder fulfilled all the criteria for selecting a suitable rearing medium
