Abstract

Evaluations of dry panicle weight and threshing percentage in relation to threshed grain weights were made from grain sorghum yield trials conducted at four Iowa locations over a 3-year period. Correlation coefficients of 0.91 to 1.00 for the association of panicle weight with threshed grain weight indicated that weights from unthreshed panicles may serve as an expedient and effective selection criterion for relative grain yield among a group of hybrids.
