Abstract
Saline soils often give patchy stand of grasses Bernctcin & Hnyward (2) stated that some of the grasses are more sensitive than others during germination than at later stages. The first phase of the plant growth i.e. germination and seedling emergence is the controlling factor in crop production Paliwal (4). The deprcssing effect of salinity on plant growth has been widely studied (1, 3, 5, 6 & 7) hut little is known about the influence of salinity on early stages of growth of fodder grasses. Therefore, the present investigation was conducted to find out, whether or not the relative tolerance of the fodder grasses to saline soils can be determined at early seedling stage itself...........
