Abstract
Micro-plot studies were conducted during the year 1974-76 on light textured coastal soil to evaluate the effect of saline water (upto 16mmhos/cm) use on sunflower during (Rabi) and ragi during (Kharif) season. The reduction in yield was linear with increasing salinity of water. Oil content in sunflower also decreased with increasing salinity. The salt content lo soil profile did not reach serious proportion as long as the salinity of water did not exceed 4mmhos/cm and would justify continued exploitation of such waters on these soils.
