Abstract
Total 130 Front line demonstrations on Chickpea variety GNG-663 were conducted at farmers' fields in district Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) during rabi 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2009-10. On an average, 17.5% higher grain yield was recorded under demonstrations than the farmer's traditional practices. The extension gap, technology gap and technology index were 197.8 kg/ha, 876 kg/ha and 38.9%, respectively. An additional investments of Rs.1499/ha coupled with scientific monitoring of demonstrations and non-monetary factors resulted in additional return of Rs. 3141/ha. Fluctuating minimum support price of chickpea during different years influenced the economic returns per unit area. On four years average basis incremental benefit: cost ratio was found as 2.1.
