Abstract
Tubers were harvested from 375 andigena accessions grown during 1989 and stored at room temperature (9-25°C) for 6 months. Accessions were grouped into 5 classes according to their dormancy period (DP), which ranged from 0-9 to 18-21 weeks. Eleven genotypes had a DP of 21 weeks, and were of interest to breeders in areas where only 1 crop is grown each year and seed tubers are required for long-term storage. Six of these accessions (JEX/A80, JEX/A288, JEX/A410, JEX/A426, JEX/A429 and JEX/A480) contained 2-4% higher dry matter than the best control, Kufri Dewa (22%). The 40 accessions with a DP of 0-9 weeks are of interest as potential parents in areas where 2-3 crops are grown each year
