Abstract
Diallel analysis involving eight parental lines was carried out to identify the best general combiners and the best specific cross combinations for use in development of high-yielding foliar disease resistant genotypes. ICG (FDRS) 79 and GPBD 4 were the best general combiners for yield, yield attributes and foliar disease resistance. Tirupati 1 and Narayani were good combiners for earliness, Kadiri 6 for sound mature seed percentage and TCGS 876 for yield and yield attributes. TCGS 876 × ICG (FDRS) 79, TLG 45 × GPBD 4, TCGS 876 × GPBD 4 and Tirupati 1 × ICG (FDRS) 79 were the specific combinations with mean and specific combining abillity in desirable direction for yield, yield attributes and foliar disease resistance.
