Abstract

In a field experiment on an acid Inceptisol in 1986-87 at Ranichauri, Uttar Pradesh, potatoes cv. Kufri Jyoti were given Cu, Zn, B and their mixture through soil or foliar application or soaking seed tubers for 3 h in a solution of each trace element. Mean (across all the nutrient levels including control) tuber yields for the methods of application were 14.0, 13.1 and 13.8 t/ha, respectively. Response to application method varied between nutrients and Cu applied through seed tuber treatment produced more tuber yields than the other 2 treatments. B application produced the highest tuber yields (18.5 and 20.0 t from soil application in 1986 and 1987, respectively) and tubers with the highest starch content. Data on Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and B uptakes are tabulated
