Abstract

Pachyrhizus tuberosus was an intermediate-day plant with regard to flowering and a short-day plant with regard to tuberization; it set tubers in <16-h photoperiods and flowered only in 9- to 16-h photoperiods. High temp. (30/25°C in 13/11-h days) completely inhibited tuberization and delayed and reduced flowering. The most suitable thermal regimes were 25/20° and 20/15° in 13-h photoperiods
