Abstract
Different concentrations of sucroS'e and boric acid was used in the culture medium. For this study five entries of maize were selected and paDen germination was observed after 15 hours and 20 hours. PaDen germination percentage ranged from 22.21 to 64.66. The entry J 1006 recorded the maximum germination percentage compared to other entries in a culure medium containing 100 per cent sucrose and .10 per cent boric acid after 20 hours. Pollen tube growth was observed after 15, 18, 21 and 24 hours., Length of pollen tube ranged from 47.25 to 239.63 microns, and It was maximum In J 1006 (239.63 microns) in a medium containing 100 per cent sucrose and 10 per cent boric acid after 24 hours.
