Abstract
An agar nutrient medium has been defined for growing hybrid embryos from 28-crosses between maize and sugarcane. Embryos excised 5 -7 days after pollination gave a high percentage of germination in vitro. This study has demonstrated the possibility of overcoming hybrid inviability or weakness in the incompatible matings between maize and sugarcane
