Abstract
The maize pathogen in Rajasthan, which is a limiting factor in production, differs from Sclerospora sorghi in its symptoms on maize, in oospore morphology, conidial size and conidiophore morphology, and in the number of nuclei/conidium. It did not cause leaf shredding or tassel deformity and did not form oospores in maize. It perpetuates on Heteropogon contortus and does not infect the susceptible sorghum line DMS 652. The fungus is described as the new sp. Perenosclerospora heteropogoni [RPP 58, 1075]
