Pulses are also an integral part of Asian farming systems with direct involvement of women farmers. Konuma highlighted the relevance and timeliness of the consultation as a backdrop to declaring 2016 the “Year of Pulses” and said collaboration of ICRISAT and ICARDA, both involved in the field of pulses, highlights the importance of working together both regionally and nationally to provide support to the millions of pulse growers in the region.
