Abstract
This paper attempts to highlight the publication status and growth of Chickpea research in the world with special emphasis on the Indian contributions and make quantitative and qualitative assessment by way of analysing various features of research output based on the CAB Direct Online database for the year 2000 to 2014 (up to 05/01/2015). The analysis covers mainly the chronological & geographical distributions of records, preferred areas of research, forms of document cited and most productive authors etc. Applies Growth Rate, Doubling Time, Activity Index, Lotka’s Law. Out of total 7836 contributions India has contributed, 2007 (25.62%) research papers in the study. The Growth Rate has decreased and consequently doubling time has increased. Plant production is the most preferred area of research with (25.68%) records and (94.36%) papers published in English. Journal article is the most preferred communication channel and S. Singh is the most productive author.
