Abstract
A field experiment was executed for three years during kharif seasons of 2000-01 to 2002-03 to study the effect of organic amendments and mulch materials on productivity and economics of ground-nut on rainfed alfisols. The pooled data of three years of experimentation revealed that significantly higher no. productive pods/plant, 100 seed weight and pod yield of groundnut (1854 kg/ha) were obtained due to incorporation of FYM @ 10 t/ha. All the treatments were proved better than control with regard to pod yield of groundnut. The higher rain water use efficiency (5.25 kg/ha/mm) was also observed in the treatment where FYM @ 10 t/ha was applied. Though gross returns (Rs 23,078/ha) accrued were higher with FYM @ 10 t/ha, higher net returns (Rs 17,224/ha) and benefit:cost ratio (3.72) were recorded with the application of tank silt @ 100 t/ha
