Abstract

Effect of weather on long duration pigeonpea genotypes against tur pod fly (Melanagromyza obtusa Malloch) under field conditions" was executed at Oilseeds Research Farm of C. S. Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur during 2012-013. One hundred germplasm of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) along with two checks i.e. T-17 (susceptible check) and Bahar (resistant check) were evaluated following Augmented Design. The test material was grouped into highly resistant (HR), resistant (R), susceptible (S) and highly susceptible (HS) categories based on the pod infestation. A total of 33, 15, 28 and 24 germplasm were categorized as highly resistant (HR), resistant (R), susceptible (S) and highly susceptible (HS) against tur pod fly (M. obtusa), respectively. However, pigeonpea genotype V-100 showed significantly lowest pod damage due to pod borer as well as tur pod fly, while four more entries namely ICE AP-01144-13, B-42, V-82 and V-95 exhibited up to 10% pod infestation due to this insect.
