Abstract

In addition to ordinary studies, various types of research project have been conducted since 1962. These project are more or less of the problem solving type and involve a wide range of subjects covering funamental and applied fields, to meet the scientific and administrative requirements for the promotion of the development of agriculture,animal husbandry, forestry and fisheries. All the project are planned and cordinated by the Research Council of the Ministry and implemented by the national research institutes. Some university prefectural experiment stations and private laboratories are also involved. These research projects are funded by the national budget through the Division of Research Planing and Development of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council Secretariat. As the importance and effectiveness of the research projects have been gradually recognized in recent years both in Japan and overseas, the need for research cooperation has become increasingly important, in paticular for highly advanced science and for basic research. This booklet compiled by the Division of Research Planning and Development includes a summary of the contents of the research projects implemented during the fiscal year 1989. We hope that this booklet will contribute to a better understanding of our research activities
