Abstract

Recently Hiura (5), Tasugi (19), and Evans and Harrar (4) showed with certainty the method of germination of the oospores of Sclerospora gramninicola (Sacc.) Schrot. This achievement made it possible to study critically for the first time the nuclear stages following the resting period of the oospore. However, before this study had advanced very far it became apparent that it would also prove profitable to rework the stages in oogenesis covered by Stevens (17) and Ruhland (13, 14) some two decades ago
