Abstract

Agricultural conditions in India and china are similar in several ways.Both the countries have had to maintain for thousands of years a dense population on a relatively limited supply of land. In both arable land as well as capital is scarce and it is only labor which is relatively in plentiful supply. In both countries the average farm is very small in size in china it was even smaller than in India until recently and hence the emphasis has always been on increasing the yield per acre as much as possible. In both countries attempts have been made in recent years, especially after Independence in India and after Liberation in China for the development of agriculture through the method of national planning and the introduction of new techniques.
