Abstract

Bagrada hilaris (Burm.) (Cruciferarum, Kirkaldy) commonly known as painted bug is a phytosuccivorous pest and has been reported to feed on a variety of crop plants viz. mustard, radish, turnip, rai, cauliflower, cabbage, rice, sugarcane, indigo, coffee, wheat and other cruciferous plants. Recently, the pest appeared in serious proportion on maize sown in Zaid at farmer's field in Faizabad and Gonda districts of eastern U.P.
