Abstract
A survey carried out during 1972/3 in Nigeria on the aflatoxin problem in groundnuts and groundnut products has shown that the basic need is to reduce the levels of toxin in the groundnut crop. Present extension procedures giving advice to farmers on aflatoxin control are too diffuse and it is suggested that a film be produced dealing with the problem and its control and shown throughout the growing areas by means ofmobile cinema buses. In addition incentives must be worked out to recompense the farmer for carrying out these recommendations. In order to check on the efficacy of these extension and incentive processes, it is suggested that the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute, Kano should improvetheir aflatoxin testing facility
