Abstract
Information on combining ability and heterosis is derived from data on 9 forage traits in a line X tester set involving 6 CMS lines and 18 diverse pollinators grown under 2 sowing dates at 2 locations in Gujarat. GCA effects were stable for fodder yield and a number of yield components, whereas SCA effects were highly unstable for all the characters across environments. Highly significant but varying degrees of heterosis were observed for the characters studied
