Abstract
Field trials were conducted in Durgapura, Jaipu, Rajasthan, India, to assess the effects of bud necrosis virus [groundnut bud necrosis virus] infection on performance of groundnut cv. Chitra planted in June 1995. Plants were assessed for disease intensity, and growth and yield parameters were recorded. Results indicated that increasing severity of disease was associated with a fall in both number and dry weight of pods. Plant height and biomass also fell as disease intensity increased. Infected plants were more branched than uninfected plants, although branching was greatest with low levels of infection
