Abstract

Finger millet, commonly referred to as ragi in Karnataka state, is one of the important millet crops. Even though, finger millet is known to be one of the hardiest crop, relatively free from pests and disease (Colemn, 1920) is affected by several diseases such as blast (Pyricularia grisea), foot rot (Sclerotium rolfsii), smut (Ustilago sp), streak and mottling viruses, with the advent of high yielding varieties (Govindu and Shivanadappa, 1967).
