Abstract

Information is presented on the inheritance of growth habit, leaf type and stem thickness in the parental, F1, F2 and backcross generations from crosses involving Ponaflair (prostrate growth habit), PDG8416 and BGN417 (erect growth habits), E100Y, a line introduced from Greece, and its thick-stem mutant E100Y(M) and the spontaneous simple leaf mutant PRR1, grown in rabi 1989-90. Monogenic recessive inheritance is suggested for prostrate growth habit and simple leaf type, and pleiotropic effects were observed for the mutant characters thick stem and dark green leaf
