Abstract
Thisdocument examines the necessity of incorporating environmental sustainability into technological transfers to the south - without limiting the South's ability to industrialize and reach its potential. The various issues covered include: the greenhouse effect, deforestation, biodiversity, technologyand agenda 21; environmentally sound technologies; technological responses to environmental processes; technology transfer; and costs and benefits to technology suppliers; North - South collaboration; and strengthening environmental management capabilities.
