Abstract
The document includes 21 papers presented at an International workshop at IRRI and grouped under three broad sections: rhizobium - legume interactions, nonlegume N2-fixing associations and potential for development of novel N2-fixingassociations. The papers covered various issues that include: genesis of root nodules and the role of host genes, hormones and nodule formation, regulation of nodulation genes and the role of oligosaccharins and exopolysaccharides in nodulation, bacterial entry into roots, exploring new soilbacteria, genetics of nitrogen-fixation in wheat and rice, and development of nodule like structure on rice roots
