Abstract
Information on genetic variation and heterosis is derived from data on grain yield in 4 male sterile lines and 20 inbred lines of pearl millet (P. typhoides [P. glaucum]) and their 80 F1 hybrids, raised at 3 locations and in 2 seasons in Gujarat, India. The top ranking F1 hybrid was 126D2A X J1248 (heterosis 274.1%). Hybrids to which lines 5054A (male sterile) and J1248 (pollinator) contributed were found to be highly heterotic
