Abstract

This document is organized in two parts. Part 1 provides a survey of the main developments in econometric thinking and outlines the keyconcepts of what has been called the LSE/Oxford methodology. The second half of the paper illustrates the applicability of this methodology in deriving statistically valid inferences from 'questionable' data by developing an empirical model to characterize the transactions demand for money inKenya.
