Abstract

The effect of various organic and inorganic fertilizers on yield and yield components of maize (open pollinated varieties) was examined. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with split plot arrangement having three replications. Fertilizers (F1=Control, F2=HIGO Organic Plus, F3=Mexicrop Sea-Gold, F4=FYM, F5=NP at 120:80 Kg ha-1, F6=NP at 150:100 Kg ha-1 and F7=NP at 180:120 Kg ha-1) were kept in main plots, while maize varieties (i.e. Jalal, Pahari and Azam) were sown in sub plots. Higher leaves plant-1 (13.8), 1000 grain weight (255.3 g), grains ear-1 (439), grain yield (4077 kg ha-1), leaf area (3543 cm2) and leaf area index (2.42%) were recorded at F7 (NP at 180:120 kg ha-1). There was no significant difference between grain yields of F6 (NP at 150:100 kg ha-1) and F7 (NP at 180:120 kg ha-1). Jalal variety produced high 1000 grain weight (244.1 g) and grain yield (3456 kg ha-1). More leaves plant-1 (12.6) and higher leaf area (3444 cm2) were obtained by sowing maize variety Azam
