Abstract

The paper discusses agriculture in Kirinyaga in general and the cultivation of beans in detail. The cultivation of beans in Kirinyaga is discussed under the following headings:-1 Kirinyaga's contribution to Kenya's bean production, 2) Area planted to beans in the farms of Kirinyaga District 4) agronomy of the bean in Kirinyaga District-seed preparation, weeding of the beans, fertilizers on beans, Harvesting of the beans, pests and diseases and yields levels, 5) Marketing of beans. A detailed discussion on cultural and marketing problems is provided
