Abstract

This paper presents the results of a preliminary diagnostic study of the Paraguayan maize subsector carried out byresearchers from the DIEAF Maize Program and CIMMYT. The broad objectives of the study were to identify the major factors (agricultural policy, research policy, marketing channels, profitability etc.) contributing to low productivity levels in maize, with the aim of facilitating long range researchplanning of the DIEAF Maize program
