Abstract

20 chickpea cv. formed most of the nodules in the top 15-cm soil layer, although some cv. also nodulated well in the 16-30 cm layer. 7 of the 16 cv. that nodulated well in the top layer had also good nodulation in the 31-56 cm layer. Similar trends were noted in root dry wt., which reflected differences in root conc. in different layers.
