Abstract
In limited water supply conditions, changing agricultural patterns by planting droughtadapted plants can be very good. To evaluate the yield and water use in typical varieties of Pishahang common millet and Boston foxtail millet varieties the experiment was carried out in the Education-Research farm of Islamic Azad University Branch Eghlidin 2011 and2012.The statistical design was a split plot in time (Split Plot Design) with 8 treatments and 3replications.The results showed that the thousand grain weight in both types of millet is not affected by tillage method in different years but other variables such as panicle length and number of grains per panicle, which were in line with the change in yield is affected. Conventional seedbed preparation and planting method, minimum tillage method using the teeth and using the disc on both millet had the highest grain yield respectively. Minimum tillage methods compared to conventional methods in foxtail millet was a sharp drop in grain yield. However, because of saving 16.1% in water consumption, minimum tillage methods and planting bed preparation with teeth is recommended for common millet teeth to save water and grain yield proposes and for foxtail millet to forage production
