Abstract

The effect of fungicides viz., triadimenol benomyl, captan and metalaxyl on seedborne fungi of sorghum was determined. Seed treatment with benomyl completely eradicated Fusarium, Curvularia and Drechslera species from seeds while triadimenol, captan and metalaxyl reduced infection to 0.1-3.0%. Fungicidal spray of benomyl, triadimenol, captan and metalaxyl from boot leaf stage to maturity of crop reduced fungal incidence to 0.5-4.0%. Alternaria alternata was not controlled by any of the fungicides tested. Besides reducing fungal infection, fungicides application increased germination and 1000-grain weight. Of the four fungicides used benomyl proved the best for controlling seed mycoflora of sorghum
