Abstract

Ultimately, the role of a documentation centre is to provide information to its users. This is also true for any other office or institution that finds a need to duplicate and distribute its work. The information to be disseminated is usually in the form of journal articles, books or reports and generally is supplied to the user in the form of a paper photocopy. But paper costs, photocopier costs and mailing costs are constantly increasing to the point where the distribution centre must either charge high rates to the user, or even worse, curtail service...
