Abstract
Information on narrow-sense heritability and genetic correlation is derived from data on 5 quantitative characters in the F3 and F4 of a segregating chickpea (Cicer arietinum) population grown in winter 1986. The intraclass correlation method developed by Cahaner & Millet showed heritability estimates to be consistent in the 2 generations studied, with grain weight being the most heritable character. Results from regression analysis were not consistent with those of the interclass correlation method, genetic correlations in the F4 being markedly stronger than those in the F3.
