Abstract

Following a recommendation of Its Advisory Committee on In Vitro Storage the IBPGR established a Subcommittee to discuss and make recommendations on all aspects of the design, planning and operation of In Vitro Genebanks (IVG). This was timely in view of the identification by the Committee of the complementary types of genebank collections at its first meeting in 1982 and at its second meeting in 1984, the Committee advised on the relative emphasis to be placed by the IBPGR on medium-and long-term storage using available approaches...
